Hail Merry Macaroon Review

I have to say that I love my 'job' as a recipe curator, blogger, and foodie but today I feel like I've won the jackpot reviewing Hail Merry Macaroons! The lovely women at Hail Merry generously sent me some of their product to review and give my honest feedback. Let me tell you what I thought of these macaroons and this company (spoiler alert, they are awesome!).

Meditation Benefits and Techniques

Happy Spiritual Sunday! Today, I wanted to talk about something that is very important to me. Something that has changed me for the better since practicing. Meditation. What's the first thing you think of? Some woo woo person chanting "Om"? Some hippie singing "Kumbaya" in a circle? I thought the same before I really understood what it is and what it can do for your health.

Healthy Pasta?! Review PLUS discount code!

I'm a HUGE pasta lover and so is the rest of my family. I know how un-healthy white pasta is and I try to get a gluten-free variety if possible, so I feel like I'm constantly on the hunt for the perfect pasta. In my opinion the perfect pasta means a) the kids will eat it b) it doesn't taste like mush after cooking c) it can be reheated and still have the same texture d) it's healthy. Not too hard to find right?! Wrong! I have luck here and there but there hasn't been a brand I've just fallen in love with that meets all those requirements yet.

My handed down 1925 cookbook

I've loved being in the kitchen my whole life. Some of my favorite memories as a young child were helping out in the kitchen. I remember baking treats with my Grandma and getting flour on our noses or watching my Gram making elaborate meals with all the best china or volunteering to make dinner for our family. The kitchen is definitely my comfort zone. So, when my Great Grandma's 1925 cookbook from grade school was passed down to me, I felt like I won the lottery! What an absolute treasure to have in my cookbook collection.

What I learned on vacation...

This last week my family and I took a road trip back home to Iowa where we are from to visit family and friends. It takes about 17 hours to get from here (San Antonio, Texas) to Des Moines, Iowa. It's a trip I've done many times before but when you have young kids in the car, it's always a gamble on how well it will go. My 6 and 3 year old boys were great (and my husband too haha!) The main reason (other than the fact I have extremely amazing kids) is that I planned ahead!

A big personal milestone...

Today I want to share with you a big milestone in my own personal health story. But first, I want to give you a little background...

This week marks my oldest son's last day of Kindergarten (trying to keep it together and not cry..!) so as a family we wanted to do something that celebrated this big moment in his life. We decided we'd take a trip to the beach this weekend! It's only a couple hours away, but I'm a planner so I've been thinking about all the things we need to bring. That's when I came across 2 swimsuits. One is a very cute one-piece bathing suit and the other is a very cute 2 piece suit.

In less than a month, I will be traveling to London for a business conference where I will meet with other amazing female entrepreneurs to talk business and enjoy time with our mentor. I couldn't be more excited! Of course I'm planning what I will wear..because well I've always been 'that girl' who plans out outfits days before big events. But now, I'm 'that girl' who is planning out what I'll eat too!

Eat These Foods To Stay Energized Throughout The Day

I talk with so many people about their health and the consensus lately has been how do I keep up my energy? It is so common to have the 3 o'clock middle of the day energy drop. You are usually running on empty but still have a lot of your day left, this is when the poor food choices come in. You will want to be prepared so you don't make food choices that may not be inline with your health goals. If you are prepared, you can conquer that energy dip and have consistent energy without grabbing that coffee or soda!
