Frequently Asked Questions

What does holistic wellness mean?

Holistic encompasses the health of the whole body. Because the body works as a whole unit, everything needs to be balanced in order to perform at optimum health. Holistic wellness techniques provide a safe way to bring balance to your body, mind, and soul. Through healthy eating habits, movement, and mindfulness you can achieve a healthier and happier life.

What type of holistic techniques do you invite your clients to use?

I offer whole food meal plans, meditation techniques, movement ideas, approaches for stress reduction, and methods for weight management. The techniques I offer aren't for everyone, that is where I take in account your unique life style to suggest the best modalities or adaptations that are best suited for you and your lifestyle.

What are 'whole foods'?

Whole foods are foods that are as close to their natural form as possible. No added chemicals, preservatives, dyes, or anything you can't pronounce! Whole food is what our body craves and performs best on. Eating whole foods is much less taxing on the body because it doesn't have to work at eliminating the 'junk'; it can just absorb the good-ness!

What are the benefits of eating healthy, whole foods?

The benefits of eating healthy, whole foods are endless! You will notice you can achieve your ideal weight success, sleep better, have more energy, be able to better manage disease, more focus, and clarity to name a few.

Is it hard to stay on the nutrition and lifestyle plans?

All positive lifestyle changes require transition, I am here to help guide you with the tools needed to be successful at attaining your goals. We will work together to make a realistic plan to your dream health. I am available to coach you through the bumps and hurdles your may encounter as well as questions that may arise during the process. My ultimate goal is to encourage a change in lifestyle that you manage for the long haul and not just 'quick fixes'.

Why do you encourage a nutrition plan instead of a diet?

In my experience, diets don't work. They are for quick fixes and require eliminating and restricting. Who wants to be restricted and told what to do?! Diets don't promote a lasting lifestyle change. Instead, I encourage nutrition plans that don't restrict, but open your life to the new possibilities of healthy. Yes, there are things that are healthier than others, but I encourage not to eliminate them from your life completely but to add in healthy (and tasty!) foods that you will love even more than your old stand-bys.

Why do you encourage movement instead of exercise?

I have always thought of the dreaded 'exercise word' as endless hours at the gym and running on a treadmill for days. That is fine if doing those things motivates you! When I encourage movement, I encourage being active in whatever way excites YOU. If you love walking, yoga, biking, or running with the kids--do THAT and don't worry about getting to the gym.

What type of nutrition plan are YOU on?

Myself and my family are on a vegetarian/vegan nutritional plan. This means we eat a plant strong diet that includes a variety of fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and legumes.

You are vegetarian, does that mean you only promote this type of plan for everyone?

No one plan is right for everyone. This lifestyle works for my family and I but that doesn't mean it will for yours. I definitely promote eating more vegetables, fruits, and whole grains because EVERYONE can benefit from these super-food groups. But, I also work with you and your lifestyle needs and desires to create the best plan for YOU. Everyone is unique and requires a customized individual approach.
