Turmeric Ginger Tea Recipe

Happy Tasty Thursday!

This time of year colds are going around and runny noses are prevalent. I'm a big proponent on prevention, so today I'm going to share a Turmeric Ginger Tea with you that will not only help to prevent colds but also help ease symptoms if you do end up getting sick.

Turmeric is a powerful spice! One of the active ingredients is curcumin which has powerful anti-inflammatory effects and is a very strong antioxidant. Curcumin neutralizes free radicals (or harmful molecules that cause damage on the body) on its own, then stimulates the body’s own antioxidant enzymes. This is TERRIFIC for the body during cold and flu season because you want all the antioxidant protection you can get! Turmeric also helps brain function and may help alleviate depression symptoms which is also great during this time of year if you suffer from seasonal depression because of the reduction of daylight hours.

In this tea, I also use ginger which is also a great anti-inflammatory that can help with pains, joint aches, asthma, and allergies to name a few. Ginger has been used for thousands of years to treat a variety of ailments including stomachaches, arthritis, inflammation, and easing migraines. Ginger contains gingerol a bioactive substance that can help lower the risk of infections.

With the added benefit of Vitamin C from the lemon, you have the perfect health boosting tea! This tea is not only SUPER beneficial it's also delicious! Plus, it is naturally caffeine free so you can drink it anytime of the day.
